BASTION
Retribution Paladin

Trust and Loyalty
Born to parents unknown, Bastion was found in the rubble of a small town on the outskirts of the human kingdom during The First War. Brought to the palace by a kindhearted soldier, the Queen instantly fell in love with Bastion and insisted she keep him as her own. Bastion was raised in the royal court and trained in both academics and the art of combat.
Bastion excelled at his training, rising quickly through the ranks of the royal guard-seemingly to the pleasure of his adoptive father, The King, whom Bastion desperately sought the favor of. By the age of 28, Bastion had risen to the rank of Captain. He was the youngest in the kingdom's history to attain this rank.
Under orders, Bastion led a reconnaissance mission to the outskirts of the human kingdom, on the border of the elven lands. His party discovered a small elven village, ravaged by an unknown monstrosity. Bastion ordered his party to provide aid and gave his word to the suspicious refugees that they would be given asylum in the human lands. However, human grudges are long and patience short. Upon his return, Bastion was told the elves would be given no such quarter and they were to be exiled. Should they refuse to leave, he was to execute them. Bastion, refusing direct orders to murder innocent life, was stripped of his rank and exiled himself.
Bastion now seeks the source of what destroyed the elven village and vows to finally put an end to the years of hatred and violence between elves and humans.
